Is it safe to sell fan art on Redbubble?
Main Post:
I was going to start selling my SJM fan art but I didn’t realize you’re supposed to have rights to sell them, but I see people selling them all the time on redbubble. Is there a certain way you’re supposed to do it? Or does Bloomsbury let people get away with selling fan art? I’m so confused and a little bit scared of getting sued lol

I'm pretty sure it's technically illegal because they're copyrighted characters. I know of some artists (including @po_jainter on Instagram) who have permission from Sarah and Bloomsbury in exchange for a percentage of sales. I'm sure some people sell their art even without permission, but it would probably be best to avoid getting a Cease and Desist order. I'd love to possibly sell prints at some time as well, but I'd recommend looking into licensing with Bloomsbury rather than risking a problem.
How do people sell fan art on etsy and the likes with out being sued?
Main Post:
On etsy people sell fan art and fan merchandise, like Harry Styles, Avatar the Last Airbender and other popular franchises. How are they doing this with out getting sued/copyrighted?

A friend of mine was making "you're killing me smalls" onsies and got a cease and desist letter because of it. I think it really just depends on who has the time to come after you.
Not allowed to sell fan made merch?

Can any Hero Siege fan sell me this game?
Main Post:
I’ve about a hundred hours into Hero Siege and I recently heard of this game. This looks and feels like an upgrade tbh. Tell me what you think!
Top Comment: I've dabbled in hero siege, and dropped hundreds of hours into chronicon. It's not even a fair comparison. The amount of build diversity is absurd and rivals AAA games. The grind is fun and rewarding, and you don't have to worry about getting the perfect relics. Really the only thing HS does better is the online play with seasons and a player economy. The quality of the actual gameplay doesn't even come close.
Sanrio isn't cool with fan art
Main Post:
Just wanted to let y'all know that. You're infringing on their copyright when you make fan art or any other creations using their copyrighted characters. Don't even try to sell your Sanrio fan art. You're at a much higher risk of getting a cease and desist and getting sued by them if you try to make profit with their intellectual property. You can check it in the Sanrio DMCA notice. Sanrio has lawyers and they will crack you down.
Sanrio's website has a page listing all of their copyrights. Sanrio is strict and they aggressively protect both their copyrights and trademarks of their characters.
They sued a children's beauty pageant organizer for copyright infringement for using the Hello Kitty doll on its tiaras and trophies.
There was a Sanrio, Inc. v. Blink & Blink, Inc. court case. Defendants Blink & Blink, Inc. and its officers are accused of selling jewelry and other products that incorporate a cast of Hello Kitty characters. Defendants are engaged in importing, manufacturing, distributing, advertising, selling, offering for sale, any unauthorized product which features any of Plaintiff's properties.
Here's a twitter thread that talks about the Sanrio fan art/merch issue. An artist there said that she posted her Sanrio fan art online and within 24 hours, she was told by Sanrio reps to take it down because it was unauthorized, even though it was just made for fun.
Sanrio says no to fan art and no to fan merch:
Sanrio's character artwork, names, images, graphics, text, and trade names, are the sole property of Sanrio Co., Ltd. Copying, reproduction, and/or republication are not allowed without Sanrio's consent. Please respect the rights of Sanrio.
Sanrio is notorious for their copyright/trademark laws like Disney and Nintendo. They must enforce their copyrights/trademarks or face losing them under United States law. They cannot tolerate unauthorized use of their IP, such as the display and sale of works whose creation is likewise unauthorized. They have to and will do anything to protect their brand.
